That will give you just a hint of what she will be sharing at the Surratt conference in March. Hope to see many of you there.

I also greatly enjoyed Betty's article in the Courier. I had often wondered about those ladies and was happy to have some great info concerning them.

Hey Betty,

Great Article! The Courier arrived today by pony express, after avoiding numerous Apache attacks in New Mexico, I suppose, so I finally got to see what all the excitement was about. All I can say about Maggie's picture is WOW! No wonder Lewis Powell was escorting her around Baltimore--and more . . . ?!

The mail is also slow in Florida, and the Courier finally arrived today. Betty, your research on the Bransons is incredible. I think I wish the photo was of Mary. I would love to know exactly what Annie said at the Provost Marshall's office, and also what she really knew about Lewis and Mary. This adds a whole new dimension to the Lewis Powell story. Hmm...Powell, Paine, Wood, Ferguson, Mosby, Longfellow, Doc...I am sure I left some out. Kudos on a fascinating article and all the material you have uncovered. Thank you for all the work you do.

Great article, I am amazed at the things you find out.
It was fun to read.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Thanks ever so much for all of your kind words!

I had a BALL researching this and still am not finished - there is a lot more out there that I'm looking into; and that's the BEAUTY of it all; it NEVER ends!!

Some one sent me a comic book with Lew in it...can't remember where I got it. I have a whole collection of "Lew Powell in the comics" - some of them are hysterical!

RE: BettyO's Article in the Surratt Currior
I just received the Surratt Courier today. I guess our horses in New York are quite slow. I am looking forward to reading Betty O's article about LTP and his lady friends. I am eager to see what new light it sheds on the issue of whether or not Powell was acting in an official Confederate capacity after he left the "Gray Ghost" which was a far better TV series than the junk they have today.
