RE: Who is this person?
Nope, it's not Alice Roosevelt.
Hint #1: Her father knew Abraham Lincoln very well. |

RE: Who is this person?
Could this be the daughter of Ninian and Elizabeth Todd Edwards (Mary Lincoln's older sister) ?
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Who is this person?
I just happened to look at my Lincoln books and saw the spine for a biography of John Nicolay, so I will guess that it's Helen Nicolay.

Nope, it's not Helen Nicolay. In a way, this is the closest guess so far.

While I don't have a second guess, I just wanted to point out that this post proves why Roger is the GOAT when it comes to trivia. My hat is in my hand, sir.

RE: Who is this person?
Very good, Scott. Kudos! Yes, it's John Hay's daughter, Helen Hay Whitney. She led quite an active life. My next hint was going to be that she once had a horse which won the Kentucky Derby.
