RE: Gabor S. Boritt 1940-2026
His obituary from the Gettysburg Connection.
After reading this, he is a man I wish I had known. https://gettysburgconnection.org/obituar...ies-at-86/ So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Gabor S. Boritt 1940-2026
He was a very respected scholar.
Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell
I want the respect of intelligent men, but I will choose for myself the intelligent. --Carl Sandburg

RE: Gabor S. Boritt 1940-2026
He was a kind and generous man, to which I can personally testify. Founder of the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg and a towering giant in the Lincoln field.

RE: Gabor S. Boritt 1940-2026
Paragraph from article in today's New York Times:
Boritt worked briefly in a hat factory in New York before heading west, to find what he had been told was the real America. Along the way, he used a booklet of Lincoln’s writings to teach himself English. "So very difficult a matter is it to trace and find out the truth of anything by history." -- Plutarch |
