RE: ON TV Right NOW
Not the case Betty! In fact I received my registration for the Surratt Society conference next spring today. What a line up! I really, really, hope I can make it this year. I'd love to finally meet you, Laurie, Dave, and some of the other folks who have been a huge help to me. Roger.. Love to see you make the trip north! Looks like it's going be a great conference.
Best, |

RE: ON TV Right NOW
GWTW is fun! I remember my dearly departed mother and me watching and mimicking all the parts. But then she taught me that Jesse James and Cole Younger were heroes--they robbed Yankees! Or so she said. . . .

Yes! Remember Carol Burnett's skit on it? She adorn the window drapery of a dress! What a hoot!

Her is the Carol Burnette version. It's a classic. (it's about 18 minutes long)

RE: ON TV Right NOW
LOVE the Carol Burnett version!!!
I have to say that it IS my favorite movie of all time..... I also used to be able to mimic most of the parts and myself and my ex-husband used to entertain guests with this at dinner parties! HA! "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley |

And it doesn't get any better than Clark Gable! Although the movie's producer wanted Gary Cooper for the role. Cooper turned it down! Gable was nominated for Best Actor for the role, but didn't win.
Gene: thanks for the link to the Carol Burnett skit-it is still so funny after all these years! Bill Nash |

RE: ON TV Right NOW
I just have to share something funny about GWTW that a member of this forum (an unreconstructed Reb) told me yesterday - and that person can come forward and claim the honor, if desired.
With a little play on names: The main characters of GWTW are Butt Rhetler and Harlot O'Scara! I had never heard that and nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Luckily, I did not fall because the only thing funnier yesterday would have been the sight of me trying to get back up with my bum knees! |

Also, there is a two-hour special on the History Channel on now (2-4 EST): "The Lincoln Assassination." We're enjoying Laurie's commentary.

Were riding the wave of "Lincoln mania." Well, maybe not that strong-but he sure seems to be everywhere lately.
