American Civil War by Earl Miers
This is a large book (13 1/2 X 10) picture book size, with 320 pages. Published in 1961.
Detailed illustrations on every page primarily from Harper's Weekly, Frank Leslie's and the New York Illustrated News, with a good narrative describing the event illustrated. Miers has written many books for all ages, several for younger readers about Lincoln, the Civil War and other American history subjects. If you read much about Lincoln or the Civil War when you were in school, chances are you read one written by Miers. https://www.amazon.com/s?i=stripbooks&rh..._sr_book_1 I have enjoyed this book, mainly for the illustrations, and the narrative is good to. Unfortunately there is no index, footnotes, or bibliography. I did learn this interesting detail about General Sherman. It seems as a youth, he hated his natural red hair and used a dye to change the color. It worked, but unfortunately turned it a strange green color. Not an expensive book,(several copies less than $15) I purchased my copy on Amazon (I think it's worth it to get a copy with the dust cover) https://www.amazon.com/American-Civil-Wa...enck+Miers So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

A friend of mine (a blonde) had this happen years ago, and that's what her hair dresser said to do. Took about five washings. BTW: A tiny few drops of Dawn are a great shampoo. I figured if good enough to get heavy duty oil off of ducklings, good enough for me - and it was. I only did one wash and rinse, but have used it about twice since. Wonder if if would have controlled Abraham's hair? |
