RE: Springfield Tour
Sad news.

We have had to postpone this fall's Springfield Tour.
We had some interesting new items planned this year, but it just hasn't worked out. For instance

Cancelled - Lecture - Rowan Herndon shares gun safety tips -
Cancelled - Tad and Willie's Lecture on "How to Clean Your Office in 10 Minutes or Less" which included "How to Get Ink Stains out of Your Rugs and Walls"
and their popular "How to Wash the Dishes and Feed the Dog at the Same Time"
Cancelled - Lecture - Dennis Hanks shares "How I tot Abe to reed and rit good"
Cancelled - Lecture - John MacNamar - "My Secret Crush on Mary Todd"

We just didn't have time to arrange for suitable substitutes.
Sorry, but I'm sure you understand.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Sorry to hear that. You missed the cancelled lecture by JWB titled "I do all my own stunts: How to escape after shooting the president".

Didn't I hear that Tom Cruise just injured both legs in doing one of his own stunts -- jumping between buildings maybe, and missing?

He attended JWB's lecture at Tudor Hall when he was filming Top Gun. I see it took him until now to injure his legs.

RE: Springfield Tour
Plans are in the works for the a Springfield Tour in the Spring of 2018.

Probably sometime in April or early May. We will keep you posted on the exact date.

Mark your calendars now and remember, a Civil War or Abraham Lincoln calendar makes an excellent Christmas Gift that can be enjoyed all year long.
(I hope my wife is reading this)

Sorry I can't make it. I'll either be at school in Kalamazoo, MI (finally made a decision on where to transfer, will post more info later but will come home for the Surratt Society Conference) or living in San Francisco and calling at Golden Gate Fields (I mailed my application Tuesday. If hired, will post a link on my hiring and will skip the 2018 Surratt Society Conference since racing is conducted on that day). With your Christmas song Gene, that reminds me 97.1 WASH FM starts Christmas Music a week from Friday and reminds me of a song:

As much as I hate snow, thanks for sharing the Sleigh Ride video. Several of the sleighs remind me of the two-person cutter that the vandals stole from our Huntt home after my mother came to live with me. It dated to the early-1900s.

My daughter caught them in the act and tried to block their escape long enough for the police to arrive, but it took so long for the dispatcher to take the information that the thieves made off while she was still on her cell phone. The truck even had a company name on the side, but the police would not carry out an investigation. The thieves definitely were only interested in the iron runners and frame.

I had no place to store the sleigh, but it was the principle of the matter...

Pencil me in. Smile

I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice; and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it. (Letter to James H. Hackett, November 2, 1863)
