RE: Vandalism of popular Bloomington,Ill Lincoln Scluptur
This was very sad to read. I hope the vandal or vandals are caught. I remember there was vandalism at the Lincoln Tomb about 5 or 6 years ago, and the vandal was caught.

It is sad. There should be security CCTV cameras around all national statues that are likely to be an attraction for these idiot vandals. We've had several attacked. Captain Cook recently and previously eternal flames commemorating the war dead.

Here's an update. I'm glad damage was minimal but vandalism is vandalism and person(s) need to be caught. AussieMick's suggestion of cameras is a good one.
"Maintenance workers cleaned most of the damage early Monday, but Rick Harney, who created the sculpture, said he will give it a good cleaning this week. “It’s not as bad as I had feared,” he said Monday afternoon. “I saw a picture of it earlier in the day, and I was pretty concerned. It turns out that it is pretty minor.” Beth Whisman, executive director of the museum, sent the picture to Harney, prior to maintenance workers washing the sculpture off. “We were pretty worried and disappointed,” she said. Harney wasn’t sure what was thrown on the sculpture, but theorized it could have even been a beer or a soft drink. http://herald-review.com/news/state-and-...4553b.html |
