American Heritage magazine
Many thanks to Jerry Madonna for posting the good news about American Heritage. It was posted in another thread, and Steve thoughtfully suggested it deserved a thread of its own.

RE: American Heritage magazine
I just subscribed and got my mom a free gift subscription for her birthday. I'm also taking her to the Statue of Liberty and Monmouth at the Meadowlands in 2 weeks.

"For a limited time, we are offering free subscriptions to the new digital version of American Heritage, the distinguished magazine of history." American Heritage has always been a popular, entertaining source of history which I've enjoyed for years. It's also slick and to my knowledge has no published references. I liken it to People magazine and apparently I'm not alone. The best critiques from armchair historians are found in the letters to the editor, such as: "...hundreds of those readers can still be reliably counted on to write in arguing about the true causes of the Civil War or, as happened recently, to point out that the author of a World War II article doesn’t know the difference between the M-1 rifle and the M-16, which didn’t come in until Vietnam." |
