Charming Illustrations
Found these beautiful illustrations online - they are from an utterly charming book, Lincoln and his Boys by Rosemary Wells.

Betty, I like the one of Lincoln in his office and the scowls of the officials watching the antics of Tad & Willie

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

RE: Charming Illustrations
I'm ordering this book - it is absolutely charming....don't know anything about the author, etc., but the drawings are beautiful -

I love the one of Mary and Abe with the kids - it speaks volumes!

Yes, and wow! She's written a number of children's books.

Those are wonderful Betty. I always love seeing an intimate side of Lincoln.

RE: Charming Illustrations
Nice children's book of about 89 pages, with 14 very nice, full page, color illustrations.
The book is written as though Lincoln's sons Willie and Tad are telling the story.
It begins with Willie's trip to Chicago with his father, and ends with Tad talking about his trip to Richmond with his father at the close of the war.
It does not cover the assassination or time after that, but it does cover Willie's death.
Well written, several places it will make you smile, with several scenes that are very touching.
My favorite illustration is following the death of Willie, Tad is lying in bed awake, while an exhausted father is sleeping with his arms around him.

I purchased a hardcover, like new copy, for less than $3, and it's a bit smaller than a standard size book. Not much difference in price between hard and soft copies. The reviews on Amazon are good. I really enjoyed it, and think most adults looking for a short story and not a biography will enjoy it to. At the price, it was well worth it.

Yes, charming! Reminds me of John John playing in the oval office with Kennedy.

RE: Charming Illustrations
My wife didn't care for it.
She thought it didn't have much of a story line, and it was a bit depressing.
She felt the parts about Willie's death were not suitable for young children.
