Pink and Say
I just read a book that my son was given to read in school. He is in the 5th grade and he is starting to learn about the Civil War.
The book is called Pink and Say by Patricia Polacco. I thought this was a wonderful book and wanted to share it with you all. For those of you who have children I would not suggest this book for those younger than a Fifth Grade level due to content. I love that there are so many children's books lately that are fun to read while also teaching History. While this is a children's book, I believe adults will enjoy this also. This is a retelling of a story that has been passed down from first hand experience to generations that followed. Some of you may have already read this or had at least heard about it. I had never heard of this book until now. There is also some Lincoln references as well. Here is a pdf version of the story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. http://rriley.weebly.com/uploads/3/9/9/2...ay_pdf.pdf " Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the American Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford |
