I have always been fascinated with the possibility that there might be a stash of gold buried somewhere along the escape route of Jefferson Davis and his cabinet. After his retirement, he moved to his wife's hometown of Washington, Georgia (will be familiar to those of you interested in the subject), and has continued to research and speak on the subject.

Washington GA was the home of Robert Toombs whose impressive library is maintained by the State. Not too long ago a researcher found a $10 note in the leaves of one of his books.
