This one is set in our backyard of Alexandria, Virginia. In March, Surratt House will feature a speaker on one of the Northern abolitionists who came to the area to assist the contraband. Julia Wilbur was previously mentioned on Dave Taylor’s site, and our speaker found and transcribed a pocket diary that Ms. Wilbur kept while sojourning in Alexandria and the environs."
