RE: A House-Divided
Laurie and Bill, you made an important point that I haven't fully appreciated.
I have not lived in the same place all my life, and have not appreciated and have under estimated the loyalty to state and community over loyalty to country that was more prevalent then. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

Sorry, cannot hold back that evolution had placed all men in Africa in the beginning... That's assuming you trust Darwin's theory. To a Southern lady, born in 1914, and raised as a staunch Episcopalian, my mother placed more faith in the Bible than in Charles Darwin... |

RE: A House-Divided
I'm also one of those who doesn't trust Darwin's theory either.
Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. that kills the evolutionary theory for me From Genesis 2:7-15 7 Then the Lord God formed a man[c] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. 8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10 A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin[d] and onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.[e] 14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (from http://www.BibleGateway.com) the Tigris and Euphrates still exist, and if they flow pretty much in the same area as they did back then, that would put them in what is now Iraq, Syria and Turkey https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigris%E2%...ver_system So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

Sorry, cannot hold back that evolution had placed all men in Africa in the beginning... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recent_A...ern_humans This is what I've studied, and the findings and conclusions make some sense to me. If you ask me what I believe - I don't know. I want to believe that there's a deeper sense or God (and hopefully a good one) beyond everything and everyone than just evolution. I try to do. And the German translation of Shakespeare's Hamlet quote reads: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than your teachers have taught you." On some days it's easier than on others however. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigris%E2%...ver_system " Interesting, Gene, that just a few weeks ago, a friend and I were discussing the Middle East crises. I used the term "Cradle of Civilization" that I was taught many long years ago -- and suggested that, at the rate we're going, that area could also produce the "Coffin of Civilization." |
