Over 100 short stories by different people who knew Lincoln, edited by J B McClure. Originally published in 1888. If you have a short attention span, this is the book for you. Some of the stories are less than a page long, most are only 1-2 pages. You won't get bored with this one. My book is a nice, softbound copy published by Stackpole Books. They did a nice job reprinting the book. Very affordable.

There are a few short comings to the book.
The print is slightly smaller than usual, but not a big problem.
The author or source of most of the stories is not given.
The index is arranged by alphabetical order of the title of the story, and not by page number.

In spite of that, many interesting stories that help you get an understanding of who Lincoln is and what he was like as a person.
There are other editions of this work and hardcover copies available, this one (which I purchased) is a very good value.

I wonder if there were different editions published of what was essentially the same book. I have a book titled Abraham Lincoln's Stories and Speeches published in 1906 by the Rhodes and McClure Publishing Company. The editor is J.B. McClure. Years ago I paid $20 for it at an antiquarian book store.

Here is a used hardback copy of a reprint at a reasonable price. But my experience with the publisher, Nabu Press, has not been good. I have experienced poor quality in their reproduction of the text and photo's.

This is the 1879 edition. My reprinted copy is almost identical, but from a slightly later edition of 1888.

My copy was published in 1906 with an 1898 copyright date.
