RE: Springfield Tour
I believe the Roll's lived on Cook St., I think Roger told me the address, but I can't find it now. The house is no longer there.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Yes, Bill...and toss a doggie bone or a rose in Fido's honor. He deserves some love and respect too!

RE: Springfield Tour
When the Lincolns moved to Washington the Roll family home was at the southeast corner of Second and Cook Streets. Fido passed away at the corner of Fifth and Cook Streets. My best guess would be to pay respects in the backyard of the home on the southeast corner of Second and Cook.

Don't forget that the original marker for Camp Yates is also on private property (in case you want to try to find it).

RE: Springfield Tour
We were real close last year. The Roll house would be just around the corner from the Dana Thomas House

RE: Springfield Tour
Speaking of wallpaper - http://www.nps.gov/liho/planyourvisit/up...20Back.pdf

Kind of dry and dull isn't it.
Join us on the 2014 Springfield Tour, and it won't be dry and dull. Enjoy a unique learnig experience, get a better understanding of Lincoln and his times, and see the beautiful wallpaper in living color in all of its magnificent glory. (Coud this be the real reason for Mary's migrane headaches? - you decide)
This and a whole lot more.

You still have 40 days left to loose weight before the group picture (I've got 5-6 lbs to go)

RE: Springfield Tour
Only 30 days till the Springfield/New Salem tour. Don't wait to long if you haven't made your motel reservation yet.
We will have a few surprises this year, places we haven't mentioned yet. We also hope to have a few new faces join us this year.
If you have any questions, just send Joe Di Cola, Bill Nash (LincolnMan), or me a msg.

And don't worry, you still have time to loose a few pounds before we take the group picture. (or find someone who is bigger than you and stand next to them)
I now have only 7 pounds to loose on my five pound wieght loss goal.

RE: Springfield Tour
Word that we were coming back to Springfield on Oct 10th & 11th must have gotton out, because the Abraham Lincoln Motel is booked solid from Oct 5-18, even though we aren't going to be there that long. So if your still planning on coming, you'll have to find another place to stay. The good news is the we have a secure reservation for the Cozy Dog Drive Inn.

Plus it's the weekend of the giant flea market (anyone need any giant fleas?), the Indian Summer Festival, plus the October Shop Hop Artisan Walk.
The schedule is flexable if you want to visit these places or shop downtown, while some of us visit the book store.

Please make sure that Fido has flea protection before venturing near that market...

RE: Springfield Tour
Only three more days, and the weather is looking good for Fri & Sat with a high around 60. This year davg200, will be giving us a guided tour of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Dave has worked/volunteered at the ALPM for the past 10 years. I'm really excited about this. We are also visiting the Abraham Lincoln home on Fri. Last year it was closed due to gov't shutdown. Laurie, I will try to get you a nice close photo of the Lincoln What-Not.

Joe has everything so well organized, I'm hoping he left some time for a visit to the Cozy Dog Drive In, they are only open till 8PM (6 cozy dogs are only $10) I wonder if I should get a to go order for Fido?

I just checked the weather for our folks on the Springfield tour and today looks "OK" (maybe a little light rain) and tomorrow looks excellent.

Joe Di Cola was the first of the group to arrive in Springfield and sent this photo taken at the ALPLM:

RE: Springfield Tour
Will post when my wife can help me download the photo's. It didn't rain, but it was overcast Fri & Sa.
Chuck brought his good friend and neighbor (Tim - not a member of the forum yet), and Davg2000 joined us for different times on Friday. What a great bunch of guys, learned so much from them.

On the photo above, that's Joe Di Cola on the far right. Evidently Tad is upset because he was reprimanded for getting to close to the museum exhibits. Perhaps davg2000 can fill us in on the details of what happens when you do that.
