Proving this kind of thing must be fun, when it's real. I wish they had shown the other known picture of Billy the Kid for comparison purposes.

I would love it to be a picture of the kid. If I remember correctly, "Uncle Pat"'s widow, Apolinaria sold the pistol used in the shooting of the kid, numerous times.
I imagine the economic situations for both Zerelda and Apolinaria were comparable. It was a tough environment for widows, just look at what Mary Todd Lincoln had to go through to get any settlement for her murdered husband. Zerelda and Apolinaria had to get by on their husbands respective fame or notoriety. I don't think their was much to Pat Garrett's or Jesse James estates when each were murdered. Both women were resourceful.
