RE: Extra Credit Questions
Sorry, Joe, but Rob got it. Kudos, Rob!
The source I used was an article by Dr. Wayne Temple in the Summer, 1965, Lincoln Herald. The title of the article is "Lincoln and the Burners at New Salem." I do not believe Daniel Green Burner's reminiscences were ever told to Herndon. He was 80 years old when he told his reminiscences and was a teen when he lived at New Salem. |

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Who was Lincoln's roommate at Worcester Hotel when he attended a Whig ralley in Boston on Oct 15, 1848?
The prize will be a hammock so that you are independent and needn’t share hotel rooms with strangers. (You could also rest therein to recover from guessing.) |

Brilliant, I thought this was a difficult one, but you are too clever!
It was the first time the two men met. |

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Yes, Seward and Lincoln met as described; however, according to Walter Stahr (Seward's most recent biographer), there may be a problem with Seward's reminiscence that he and Lincoln shared lodgings together in Worcester, MA--see pages 110-111 of the Stahr biography.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
In 1859, New York Democrats under the powerful Tammany Hall machine voted for a resolution to buy what property and turn it into a U.S. slave state?

RE: Extra Credit Questions
We all know that Lincoln had a long relationship with William Herndon, but he wasn't the first Herndon Lincoln knew. Who was?

RE: Extra Credit Questions
You've got the name correct Eva, but the place wrong. He knew Lincoln in New Salem and built the store which was later sold to Lincoln and Berry.
