When did they wear wide collars like this? Betty, Laurie, Lindsey?...Anyone?
1910 maybe? I am clueless when it comes to fashions of yesteryear.

Thanks Craig for the photo of your ancestor. Handsome fellow!

This photo would date between 1895 to early/mid 1900s - I would say circa 1895 - 1914..... This is the high stand up detachable collar which was popular at the time. You can see that Powell's collar is a small turn down detachable collar which was popular in the mid 19th Century (1850-1870) -

I see no resemblance other than he's white, thin, and sports a mustache. And his clothing is certainly post 1865, and probably a couple decades later.

I hope the buyer gets a guarantee of some sort so they can get their money back!

Agreed, Kate!

If this is Booth, how does one explain that the subject's ears are completely different from known images #6, 18, 23, and 31 in the Gutman book? And in the eBay ad how does react when reading the seller's explanation for losing the provenance of the image, considering it was the "prize piece" of his collection?

Hello, Blaine!

I'd definitely have to say caveat emptor !! Especially to those who don't know much about JWB or the assassination! You would think that eBay would take up such matters regarding supposed historical artifacts going at a big price!

I believe that eBay subscribes to the "sucker born every minute" theory...

Craig, I would put your ancestor in his mid- to late-20s.

Betty, Laurie,
Thanks for your highly valued opinions on my ancestors age and the possible year of the photo. This kind of narrows it down to who it might be...possibly my great grandfather. If you all had said the late 20s or early 30s it would have been a cousin of mine with the same name.
