Great attic find - this RARE April 15, 1865 New York Herald (numbered, 4 page, 10 a.m. edition) newspaper announcing the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, was found lining a drawer in an 1800's NY farm house! Not only does this paper hold a detailed account of the events on that fatal night, when John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln while he was sitting in his private theater box, but also has other very interesting articles. Civil War Generals – Lee, Grant & Sherman are written about as well as speculation that the stabbing of Secretary Seward, on the same evening as Lincoln’s assassination, was linked to the same killer & his accomplice. This is a truly intriguing and wonderful glimpse into our country’s past. This piece was found by Tom Sadler in Thompson Ridge, NY in 1971. It was found during an attic clean out of a house built in 1835 & was lining a dresser drawer.
