Tsar Alexander II and Abraham Lincoln - RJNorton - 04-13-2013 12:50 PM Thanks to Bob Cook for sending this link. RE: Tsar Alexander II and Abraham Lincoln - BettyO - 04-13-2013 02:45 PM The murder of the Tsar and his family is another strong interest of mine - I have a lot of books on the subject! Thanks, Roger and Bob.... Facinating! RE: Tsar Alexander II and Abraham Lincoln - Laurie Verge - 04-13-2013 03:09 PM I first got interested in the story of Nicholas and Alexandra and their murders and then found that Alexander II was fascinating also. I need to do more reading on his reign and life during that era since it coincides more with the period in American history that I love. About ten years ago, I was fortunate to see the special exhibit on Nicholas and Alexandra that was traveling the U.S. Absolutely fantastic from crowns to royal carriage and everything in between. RE: Tsar Alexander II and Abraham Lincoln - Bill Richter - 04-13-2013 03:13 PM The relationship between Lincoln's actions freeing the slaves and the Tsar's freeing the serfs was what Rick Stelnick was engaged in with a Russian historian (I am sorry, I cannot remember her name) about the time his social life blew up. I get the feeling that this is big stuff in Russia, 150 years later. RE: Tsar Alexander II and Abraham Lincoln - LincolnMan - 04-14-2013 06:24 AM An exhibit like this in Russia? I would think it would raise a few eyebrows as Russia is still Communist? |
