In What Year Did It Happen? - RJNorton - 04-24-2024 08:18 AM No googling please. Abraham Lincoln's sister, Sarah Lincoln Grigsby, died in what year? RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - Rob Wick - 04-24-2024 09:59 AM I didn't Google it, but rather used William Barton's "The Women Lincoln Loved" to remind me that she died in 1828. Best Rob RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - RJNorton - 04-24-2024 11:02 AM You nailed it, Rob. Sarah became pregnant in 1827. In January, 1828, Sarah experienced severe labor problems. Her husband, Aaron Grigsby, ran to his parents house for help. Eventually Sarah was loaded onto a sled and taken to the Grigsby home. A doctor and several midwives were called, but it was too late. On Sunday, January 20, 1828, Sarah died in childbirth. Her child, a boy, was stillborn. She was only 20 years old. RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - RJNorton - 04-26-2024 02:34 PM Let's get a little stricter with this one...please no Googling, research, etc. Just see how close you can get on your own. In what year did Lincoln receive a patent for his device that would lift vessels over shallow spots by means of inflating buoyant chambers? RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - Gene C - 04-26-2024 03:33 PM 1846 ? RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - Steve - 04-26-2024 04:19 PM I'm going to guess 1838? I did have to Google to get what current event Gene was joking about, though. Maybe I don't watch enough news. RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - RJNorton - 04-26-2024 05:07 PM Nope, neither 1846 nor 1838 is correct. RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - AussieMick - 04-27-2024 12:31 AM 1839 ? I thought Lincoln would be around 30 years old and if Steve thought 1838, I reckon 39 is a good bet. RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - RJNorton - 04-27-2024 03:02 AM Nope, it was later in Lincoln's life, Michael. RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - Rob Wick - 04-27-2024 09:03 AM 1852? Best Rob RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - RJNorton - 04-27-2024 09:18 AM Rob, you are tied with Gene for being the closest to the correct year. RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - AussieMick - 04-27-2024 03:32 PM Must be (?) 1849 ? RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - RJNorton - 04-27-2024 05:04 PM Yes indeed, Michael! https://www.abrahamlincolnonline.org/lincoln/education/patent.htm RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - AussieMick - 07-01-2024 12:56 AM Whats the connection between the name of a former General Secretary of the USSR, the world coming to an end, and Abraham Lincoln ? RE: In What Year Did It Happen? - AussieMick - 07-01-2024 04:23 PM And what year was it ? ( I stuck that additional question in, to align with the topic .... which I obviously overlooked!) Googling is allowed. Hint .... General Secretary of USSR |
