Where I have been - Donna McCreary - 09-13-2022 12:17 AM

Hi Everyone,
I have missed visiting the forum and hope to be much more faithful in participation. There have been major changes in my life recently. Last year, my husband, Jim, became ill, and I became his care giver. He passed away on May 4. Since then, I have been sorting through his belongings, settling estate matters, and doing some much needed remodeling and repairs to the home. These tasks are not completed, but I am settling into a life and schedule.
I look forward to engaging in conversations with each of you again.

I appreciate everyone's comments. I am struggled with Jim's death and adjusting. But the other day, I had an epiphany. Even though we always assumed that I would go first, this is the way it was suppose to be. I am blessed to have family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers who have come to my aid and helped with some daunting tasks. My son has been wonderful about coming home to help settle the estate and clean out the paperwork. Slowly, we are getting through the endless piles of papers and personal belongings. In our 38 years together, I don't think Jim every threw out anything . . . ever.

I strongly advice everyone to go through your belongings. Do not leave this task to your loved ones left behind. We just never realize how much stuff we accumulate until every item has to be removed from a room (painting and new floor). The amount of stuff that has been recycled, sold, donated, and tossed is staggering.
