Michael, it's not Douglas.

Hint #1: This man knew Lincoln well.

Hint #2: The statue is located on a college campus.

Thomas Lincoln?

It took some searching, but it is John Hay on the campus of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin (since there was no restriction on Googling).

Best
Rob

Logical guess, Susan, but Rob is correct on both the right man and location. Good job, Rob. And, yes, googling was certainly allowed on my question.

There is some information on the statue here:

Hint #1: He appeared on Broadway, in a variety of films, and on TV shows. Perhaps he is best known for appearing in westerns.

Brilliant, Bill, and congrats to you, too, Michael. When I was in high school one of my favorite westerns was Have Gun – Will Travel starring Richard Boone. Boone fought evil as a mercenary hired by people who needed a problem solved. Boone, as Paladin, had all sorts of skills including being quick with the gun.

In 1959 Boone played Abraham Lincoln in the Broadway production of The Rivalry. Carl Sandburg dropped by during a rehearsal for the show, and the two men shared a laugh.

His card read"Have Gun Will Travel." Over a black Knight chess piece, under which was "wire Paladin, San Francisco." If I remember correctly. I watched him as a high school student, too, Roger

Is he a member of the Lincoln family (descendants)? Charles Bradford Isham?

RE: Who is this? - RJNorton - 08-03-2022 04:55 AM

Nope, he's not related to Abraham Lincoln. However, he is a person who has been discussed on this forum.

RE: Who is this? - AussieMick - 08-03-2022 07:08 AM

Is he connected with the theatre?

RE: Who is this? - RJNorton - 08-03-2022 07:25 AM

Nope, he was not an actor or an employee of a theater.
