First Review - Kieran McAuliffe - 10-09-2012 06:41 AM Here is a first review of the upcoming Lincoln film. http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/oct/09/lincoln-review-spielberg-day-lewis RE: First Review - Hess1865 - 10-09-2012 07:34 AM OK, so how long was this 'rough cut'?? RE: First Review - LincolnMan - 10-09-2012 09:46 AM Well, all in all it actually wasn't a bad review, per se. There have been filmes that critics distained that I liked a lot. Maybe it's my own poor taste. RE: First Review - Rob Wick - 10-09-2012 10:15 AM For a critic of any sort to justify his/her existence, they actually have to "criticize." To say "this film is good and hits every note perfectly" is about as exciting as applesauce. Most people ignore critics when it comes to movies, simply because liking something or not is subjective. People make fun of me because I like Celine Dion's music. Is she a perfect singer? Hardly. Are there better? Of course. But there's something about her music that speaks to me, and I don't give a fig what other people say. I will see the movie and either like it or dislike it, or more likely, have both feelings at various points. Best Rob RE: First Review - LincolnMan - 10-09-2012 10:54 AM Right on Rob. RE: First Review - L Verge - 10-20-2012 12:48 PM Those of you who are AARPies may have already seen this in the current issue of their magazine. Steven Spielberg is quoted on his upcoming movie on Lincoln. "I wanted to make a movie about a working president, not a posing president...At a time when it's become practically automatic to deride politics and politicians, we wanted to explore and celebrate what a great politician can do...We concentrated on Lincoln's political skills...I hope our film shows his acumen, his toughness, his clear-sighted judgment -- all the the things that made it possible for him to do extraordinary things, to change the world." |
