Somehow, Snopes always manages to take the fun out of things, doesn't it?
I have had the railroad gauge material sent to me so many times, but this is the first one (I think) that mentions the space age. You would not believe how many railroad and trolley historians there are and how dedicated they are. I communicate with three of them on a daily basis - and not just about wheeled vehicles. They are very good at many aspects of history.
