The Lincoln Group of DC is pleased to welcome Bob O’Connor as our September 18, 2018 speaker. Bob O’Connor presents a unique program in which he portrays Lincoln’s friend, confidant, and personal bodyguard, Ward Hill Lamon. This historical first-person impersonation in authentic period clothing is not to be missed.

O’Connor has presented the character of Ward Hill Lamon for almost ten years all over the country, including in such places as the U.S. Marshals Museum in Fort Smith Arkansas (Lamon was U.S. Federal Marshal of the District of Columbia), in Lake City, Florida; in Danville, IL (where Lamon was Lincoln's law partner 1852-1856); in Ferryville, Wisconsin, and at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL). He most recently presented at the First Night Virginia celebration in Charlottesville this past New Year’s Eve. His program includes an in-character presentation and plenty of time for Q&A from the audience.

Bob O’Connor has authored and edited many books, including editing the only book Ward Hill Lamon ever actually wrote: The Life of Abraham Lincoln as President (published in 2010 for the first time). O’Connor also has written the only book focused on Mr. Lamon: The Virginian Who Might Have Saved Lincoln. More information on his portrayals and books can be found on his website: http://www.boboconnorbooks.com He lives in Charles Town, West Virginia.
