a finished manuscript - Donna McCreary - 07-01-2018 09:22 PM After six years of research, writing, editing, rewriting, and starting over again, I submitted 98,848 words to Southern Illinois Press to be considered for publication. This manuscript currently has no title. I've been gathering questions about Mary Lincoln since 1992 - and I finally compiled them and their answers into book form. Here's hoping for the best! It has to go through several review panels before I hear whether or not it will be chosen. RE: a finished manuscript - RJNorton - 07-02-2018 03:43 AM Good work, Donna! We all send you our best wishes on this. I really like the format of Gerry Prokopowicz' Did Lincoln Own Slaves? and Other Frequently Asked Questions About Abraham Lincoln, and the format of your manuscript sounds similar. This is wonderful! RE: a finished manuscript - Susan Higginbotham - 07-02-2018 08:21 AM Looking forward to reading this! RE: a finished manuscript - Anita - 07-02-2018 09:35 AM Donna, there are so many questions about Mary. Good resource format . I put it on my buy list so wishing you all the best with the review process. RE: a finished manuscript - L Verge - 07-02-2018 03:12 PM I have told myself to stop buying books while my daughter is still speaking to me, but I may have to make an exception in this case because your work is always so good -- and right to the point. RE: a finished manuscript - kerry - 07-02-2018 08:23 PM Congratulations! That sounds very interesting - will definitely be buying it if it is chosen! RE: a finished manuscript - Steve - 07-03-2018 02:05 AM This sounds like it'll be a great book, I hope they decide to publish it! RE: a finished manuscript - Donna McCreary - 07-04-2018 09:45 PM Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Yes, it sort of follows the format of Dr. Prokopowicz's book. I spoke with him prior to starting this manuscript. I felt that I needed his approval and blessing before I began. Laurie, we must never say we have purchased our last book. There is always something new to explore. And, I hope this one answers everyone's questions. While I loved finding the answers to many of the questions, I had the most fun compiling the list of relatives and friends. I was able to find the identify to several people and link the family members to their proper branch of the tree. By the way, a lot of historians claim that Mary and Dolley Madison were related. They were not. RE: a finished manuscript - LincolnMan - 07-06-2018 04:30 AM Very exciting! RE: a finished manuscript - ELCore - 07-08-2018 05:41 AM Congratulations and best wishes. |
