When Thomas Edison was a young person he helped distribute campaign flyers on behalf of candidate Abraham Lincoln during the 1860 presidential contest. He also peddled photographs of Lincoln during that time. He was 14 years old. He admired Lincoln’s views on slavery. Who knew!

Vicki and I live close to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. It's a "must see" when traveling in southwest Florida. Edison's tropical botanical garden is worth the visit alone.

Ford-as in Henry Ford? Are the estates next to other? As we know, Edison and Ford were friends.

Yes, the two homes are next door to each other. The guided tours include both the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Thomas Edison wintered here first, and years later Henry Ford purchased the adjoining property to be near his friend.

They both have connections to Michigan also. Everyone knows Henry Ford lived in Michigan but the fact that Edison lived in Port Huron, Michigan as a boy is not so well known.
