I'm afraid I still have zero clue what the incident (I was familiar with the Shenandoah as well as the last CW shot) has to do with whomever's facial hair???

Eva, Shenandoah (as you say) was the ship that went to Williamstown. Shenandoah (also known as Amish) is a style of beard which is slightly longer that of Lincoln's 'Chin curtain' style. They have no moustache and are often considered as very similar ...
