Kudos, Gene! You win!

I was reading various accounts this afternoon, and apparently some folks in Washington thought Vinnie Ream may have used her "feminine wiles" to influence Senator Edmund Ross (who was boarding in the Ream home). Ross voted in favor of Johnson, and Johnson was acquitted by one vote. I have no idea of the veracity of the claim that Vinnie Ream influenced Ross.

Who received Lorant's "Lincoln"?

I have a copy of Stefan Lorant's Lincoln: A Picture Story of His Life. It was published in 1952. So I will guess either Harry Truman or Dwight Eisenhower. (or Mrs. Truman or Mrs. Eisenhower as the person receiving appears to wearing a skirt or dress)

I am changing my guess to Marilyn Monroe.

I received a copy.
I don't remember having my picture taken though. The photographer must have run out of film.
Cool

(and it was well after 1952)

Excellent guesses, Roger, I'm sorry it was neither of those you mentioned.

Hint #1: It is (was) indeed a lady.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 02-10-2017 01:45 PM

Hint #2: Please take a closer look at the lady's hand.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 02-10-2017 02:45 PM

Eva, I am afraid I cannot see her hand very well.

I'll guess Eleanor Roosevelt?

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 02-10-2017 02:59 PM

Another good idea, Roger, but not Eleanor Roosevelt either. (BTW - I love the MM picture!)

Here's a clipping of her hand:

Hint #3: She was "in office" when the picture was taken.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Gene C - 02-10-2017 05:07 PM

Jackie Kennedy ?

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 02-10-2017 07:13 PM

Another outstanding idea, Gene, but not her either. (I'm sorry I have posted poor hints because of my " way of thinking", i.e. I would instantly have linked the hand to one certain person. When I privately tried the question "on" someone, the right answer came pretty soon via the same "link". I realize now that the respective feature isn't that "unique".)

Hint #4: The lady "took office" in the very year the edition MM is holding above was published. The edition the lady received was a later one.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 02-11-2017 04:27 AM

Hint #5: The photo was taken in 1976.

Hint #6:

Queen Elizabeth II?

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 02-11-2017 06:40 AM

Brilliant, Roger, that is correct. I thought 65 years of devoted service were worth a trivia question.

Gary Everhardt, Director of the National Park Service presents a book on Abraham Lincoln to Queen Elizabeth II, during her visit to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Despite Mary, the first person I would link a gloved hand to is the Queen. Amazingly her annual order is frugal 12 pairs only:

Roger, you win a pair of gloves from the Queen's glove maker.

Nice article and photos:

What is the name of the person who wrote the following about Abraham Lincoln's first month in office?
