Thanks for posting, I never knew that. Growing up on a farm, Lincoln certainly was sensitive to problems of crop failure and famine.

Famine, and the governments handling of the problem was a significant factor to the Irish immigration in our country.
there was a time in Ireland when people stealing food could face deportation to Australia on prison ships with hardened major criminals.
