In the middle of reading this. 16 hours of reading, but it's very interesting in parts.

The Peterson edition as well as the Perley Poore version are the best trial transcripts; i.e. they are "unabridged." The Pitmann version (which is the most popular and well known) is abridged although it does not say so. I believe that is what you are reading. You can find BOTH the Peterson and Perley Poore editions on the Surratt House website in PDF format. There is a lot more regarding Powell in the other two editions.
