Belle Boyd?

Both are excellent and obvious choices, but Gene got it right away.

The pic is very small and a little blurred, so I am guessing Ida Tarbell.

That is a wonderful guess, Joe, and you are on the right track (the lady was a writer), but it's not Ida Tarbell.

Ruth Randall?

Bingo, Susan! Very good. I really like her books, and I think my favorite is Lincoln's Sons. I think one of the reasons for this is that the book has an index, something that many of her books do not have.

Yay, that was a complete guess!

Which lady mentioned on this forum from time to time is being described here?

"Is a young lady in years and appearance, of medium size, pleasant manner, and frank, cordial address,
not petite, yet handsome, and withal a woman of attractive social qualities."

Mary Lincoln?

Or Nancy Hanks?

RE: Who is this lady? - Susan Higginbotham - 11-24-2017 03:35 PM

No, but with Mary Lincoln you're getting close.

RE: Who is this lady? - RJNorton - 11-24-2017 03:47 PM

Mercy Levering Conkling?

RE: Who is this lady? - Susan Higginbotham - 11-24-2017 05:36 PM

Sorry, no! Hint: the description is from 1863.

Kate Chase? or Lucy Hale?

RE: Who is this lady? - Susan Higginbotham - 11-24-2017 06:25 PM

Nope! No connection to Booth.
