Who is the person?

Mrs. Bixby ?

Wonderful, Gene. That's the correct person. Yes, Mrs. Bixby seemed to move around a lot. I found all these streets on pp. 44-45 of F. Lauriston Bullard's book on the Bixby letter.

I thought Eva's prize for Steve, a historic steamboat trip on the Ocklawaha River, was really cool. You win this trip also if you are ever in Florida.

With all those address changes it's a wonder she ever got the letter.

Hint #1: This man knew Abraham Lincoln.

If there weren't the lacking hairdo the gentleman would remind me of Stephen T. Logan.

RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 09-01-2017 02:04 PM

Good guess, Eva, but it's not Logan.

Hint #2: Lincoln knew the man from his New Salem days.

RE: Who is this person? - Eva Elisabeth - 09-01-2017 02:29 PM

I had supposed that - looked like someone to find in Lorant's "Lincoln" but nope. Yet - although no resemblance I try Mentor Graham?

Looks like a frightened politician to me....lol

Laurie, as far as I know, this man never entered politics. Eva, that is another good guess, but it's not Mentor Graham.

I guess Joe Di Cola knows...
Did the gentleman have a connection to the Rutledges?
