I'll be there for the Author's Hour signing away.

I also have a speaking gig at the Seward Museum sometime this Spring/Summer and I'm working things out for another in NYC in late March....

Will your speaking gig in NYC be open to the public?

This is a Tremendous book! I am using BettyO's research on Powell's reaction[and other males] to Dr.Mary Walker's appearance at the trial of the Lincoln Conspirators. This talk will be in March at the National Women's Rights Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls,NY.Thanks-Betty O!!!!!!

Great news BettyO!! I can't wait to read it. Per yr bookstore adventure is Powell the co-author? Has his ghost demanded royalties? A ghost with a pistol and knife is formidable indeed.

I wonder if the Powell-Branson relationship weakens the idea that Powell was still on detached service from Mosby. Working with JWB,having lots of downtime to pursue the ladies might be more congenial than going around counting railroad trains and other mundane but tedious intelligence gathering activities.

Betty,

Will the speaking engagement at the Seward Museum be open to the public? The in-laws are not far in Syracuse. I'd love to make the trip out to Auburn!

Tom -

I doubt seriously that having a sweetheart in Baltimore affected his detached service with Mosby. More or less, it probably enhanced his duty in Baltimore. Powell was not at the Branson house that much in 1865. He was there from January to March when he was arrested; but still found time to visit the Surratt House twice as well as working with David Preston Parr and Surratt.

Daniel -

The talk with certainly be open to the public. We're putting together info now - I'll let ya'll know when it all comes together. Thanks!

Thanks, all! Hope you enjoy the new information - I'll keep finding stuff (if I can!) and posting here as well as publishing - I'm on the trail of some things re: the Bransons and will let you all know what and when I find it!

As for LA?! Thanks - would love to come out but have never been further "out west" than Kansas - however, I have friends in the LA area....perhaps someday they'll make a movie/documentary about Powell based on Alias! (hint....hint!)
