This one should be fairly easy.

Whose memoirs did Tarbell ghostwrite?

The previously mentioned S.S. McClure?

RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia - Rob Wick - 10-02-2012 08:45 AM

Sorry Roger, but it wasn't McClure.

Charles A. Dana?

Correct Roger! It was Dana. Good job.

This trivia question will require research in Tarbell's papers for the answer.

From 1916 to 1923, Tarbell was contracted with various lyceum groups to give talks around the country. Most of her talks centered around labor relations and World War I, although she did offer talks about Lincoln. There were at least two different lectures she presented. Name their titles.

There will be no clues.

Does that include tips?

I guess that would depend on the tip. I can tell you the answer will not be found in her Lincoln-related correspondence.

Was either one of them titled "The Golden Rule in Business?" or "The Cause of Unemployment?"

RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia - Rob Wick - 10-07-2012 08:10 AM

Sorry Roger, no.

I will say that Lincoln was in the title of both (OK, maybe one clue).

Well, I guess I'm going to have to break down and give another clue. If you look at Tarbell's papers by subject, go to the Affiliated Lyceum Bureau. The answer, while still hard to find, will be there.

Rob, can you say if I am on the right (or wrong) track?
