Newspaper Comic Srips - Life of Lincoln - Gene C - 01-11-2015 07:54 AM

Newspaper comic strip collection on the life of Abraham Lincoln.
Not sure how old this is, or what newspapers it may be from, but it's interesting.

Love such "history comics", thanks Gene!

The book cover has "1905" on it- which may be the publication date? Nice drawings. Reminds me of today's graphic novels.

Gene, this is great!! Thanks for posting. I agree with Bill that it is reminiscent of today's graphic novels. This is certainly a good way to engage readers of all ages. It kind of looks like these were collected together into a book. Is it possible they were orginally serial newspaper cartoons?

I noted that a few of the cartoons said "McClure's Syndicate" or some such thing about "McClure's Magazine...."

Yes, they also were later printed into a book. They have also been reprinted, but my luck with quality reprints hasn't been good when it comes to books with lots of pictures and illustrations.

You can probably find an old original copy for around $20, but the paper is usually of poorer quality.

McClure Syndicate was the first American newspaper syndicate according to Wikipedia
