Presentation and Commemarative's - historybuff22 - 10-09-2014 10:29 PM This Tuesday, October 14 I am giving my presentation "Michigan's Connection to John Wilkes Booth and Jefferson Davis." I am doing this for the George W. Lee Civil War Round table in Howell, Michigan. I have been researching and collecting Lincoln assassination for almost 50 years now. The period from April 14 to May 3, 1865 is perhaps the nation's saddest period. Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, died the next morning, and from April 21 to May 3 Lincoln's body was put upon a special funeral train. Twelve full-fledged official funerals were held in seven states for Abraham Lincoln. I want to mark these events with special commemorative patch, ribbon, and medallion. 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of these events. I have set up a Kickstarter project to raise the money required. If I get full funding, everyone that contributes will receive one or more of the items offered. The URL for my project is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/historybuffcom/150th-anniversary-lincoln-assassination-death-and Rick Brown HistoryBuff.com A Nonprofit Organization RE: Presentation and Commemarative's - LincolnMan - 10-10-2014 05:08 AM Rick: sounds wonderful! Can you give us any tidbit about the connections of JWB and JD with Michigan? Two key players in the capture of John Wilkes Booth were from Michigan. They spent their childhood in Lansing and after the Civil War came back to Lansing and set up shop. Jefferson Davis was captured by the Michigan 4th cavalry from Detroit.
