The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln - Eva Elisabeth - 06-30-2014 05:27 PM http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ol/B0044KMTK6/ref=mw_dp_olp I kindly ask those who read the book to share their thoughts on it - is this a "must-read" in the Lincoln field? The customer reviews cover all ranges, but I have anyway more faith in forum members' opinions and judgement. (Just found out that none of the dealers shipps this book overseas at all...so I can't read it anyway.) RE: The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln - L Verge - 06-30-2014 05:59 PM Watch your mail, Eva. I just purchased a used copy for you and will send it through Surratt House mail when it comes in. Happy Birthday a little late, or Merry Christmas a little early. I never read the book because the subject did not interest me. However, I just skimmed a few pages online and did note one thing -- as insignificant as it might be, the Derickson incident(s) appear to have taken place in late-October and early-November of 1862, while Mrs. Lincoln was on a shopping trip to New York. Is it slightly possible that the two men shared a bed for WARMTH during those chilly nights when fires dwindled down? The same could be asked of other incidents above and beyond the standard custom of men sharing beds in those days.
