Robert E. Lee- that spotless uniform - PaigeBooth - 04-15-2014 09:03 PM

As Robert E. Lee once said, ''Whiskey- I like it, I always did, and that is the reason I never use it.'' It doesn't surprise me that he said this, though. I think it really explains a lot about Lee, and the type of person he was. It shows he had a great deal of self control. After all, as Michael Shaara's, The Killer Angels says: "An honest man, a gentleman. He had no "vices." He does not drink or smoke or gamble or chase women. He does not read novels or plays; he thinks they weaken the mind." This has also led me to wonder how Lee managed to always have a fresh, clean uniform all the time? Wouldn't this have been almost impossible to achieve since the Confederates had so few supplies?

And staff and wagon to carry around what didn't fit into those saddlebags...

Maybe he had a cleaning lady come in twice a week.

Tide pen?

Mike,

You gave away the secret! Tide pen is how Mrs. Mudd got the mud off of Booth! Not sure if it worked on her horsehair sofa.

Shout was the big product when my daughter was growing up. When my mother would chide my young daughter about getting her clothes dirty, Jen would reply, "That's okay. Mommy will Shout it out."

Sounds like Shout missed out on a great opportunity for an ad Laurie. That's funny. I can almost picture it. Based on some of the things my kids come up with.
