Shaping Lincoln’s Image - Kieran McAuliffe - 01-24-2014 09:44 AM Very good article in the February issue of Smithsonian Magazine. The History of How We Came to Revere Abraham Lincoln The slain president’s two personal secretaries battled mudslingers for a quarter-century to shape his image By Joshua Zeitz http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/history-how-we-came-to-revere-abraham-lincoln-180949447/#ixzz2rKLAgb8d RE: Shaping Lincoln’s Image - RJNorton - 03-16-2014 09:35 AM Kieran, I have seen quite a few reviews of this book. There is a new one on the USA Today website here. RE: Shaping Lincoln’s Image - LincolnMan - 03-23-2014 09:15 AM Interesting comment from Hay- noting that Lincoln died (not literally) during his last election season- not at Ford's. RE: Shaping Lincoln’s Image - Hess1865 - 03-25-2014 07:45 PM Just finished reading this excellent book! RE: Shaping Lincoln’s Image - LincolnMan - 02-25-2015 07:26 AM I visited John Hay's grave in Cleveland last year. It struck me that this man who had done so much work to "shape Lincoln's image"- and had such a noteworthy career himself- has nothing visable at his grave to note who he was and what he did.
