Speaking of Mrs. Quesenberry I received the following in an email back in 2009. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

*************************************

"I know what happened to Lincoln.

He wasn't shot.

He was stabbed through the right eye by a dagger.

Those who stood in the shadows of Booth were the Vatican.

I know where this dagger is hid.

He (Booth) gave it to Elizabeth Quesenberry.

The dagger ended up in Ohio.

It is buried beside a house 6 ft down in a clay pot.

The dagger has 3 Jewels. A red one at the end of the handle and 2 blue ones off the grips extensions."

Wasn't that from a woman who stated she was a descendant? I think she also claimed to have the missing diary pages and was requesting someone with ground penetrating radar to help her locate it.

The link to the article is no longer valid. Does anybody have a link to it or the text? Thanks.

Bill, I was in contact with Bob Summers recently, and sadly he has taken his excellent Dr. Mudd website down. Sometimes I can still find articles from the site on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, but I just tried finding the article you asked about and drew a blank.

Based on this page the article appears to have been published in two parts on April 14, 1883, and April 15, 1883. Possibly someone can post them.

Hi Steve. That's the Townsend interview with Dr. Mudd's cousin, Dr. George Mudd. What I think Bill is asking about would be in the Cincinnati Inquirer (assuming the newspaper is the same) the previous two days (April 14 and 15, 1883).

My bad: You are right - I think Bill's reference is indeed to the Dr. George Mudd interview. (I should have looked back at the previous postings in this thread.) It's a fascinating interview as George Mudd has some interesting things to say about his cousin. Thanks for posting the link, Steve.

It looks like the Wayback Machine did not index Bob's link to the Townsend article concerning Samuel Mudd.

Thank you so much for posting this interview. I was not previously aware of the interview which took place only three months after the death of Dr. Sam. I find the interview to be remarkably candid and completely credible. This certainly adds much to my understanding of the events of April 15 and 16th. It is a real gem.

Bob is THE guy to speak with regarding Dr. Mudd! He has done a lot of great work to gather the primary source documents pertaining to Mudd. If you don't have his book "The Assassin's Doctor", get it! You won't be disappointed. The website is great as well. Keep up the good work, Bob!
