When the Oldroyds were living in the Lincoln Home, they invited other people to move in, too. One author facetiously wrote, "One might have also accused Oldroyd of operating a "boardinghouse."

Who was this author?

Sounds like something wry as Mark Twain might have said.

Great guess, Joe, but it wasn't him.

A secretary of state said the following to the president he was serving under-that he was:

"one of the men who most thoroughly understood and appreciate Lincoln."

Who were the two individuals?

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Bill Richter - 06-25-2013 12:11 PM

John Hay and T Roosevelt

Would that be Paul Angle, Roger?

Joe, that is certainly a good guess, but it was not him.

Hint #1: This gentleman has a PhD in history from the University of Illinois.

Bill,

Was it John Hay? If so, he said it to McKinley or, after September 1901, he said it to Theodore Roosevelt.

Joe

Hi Joe: Mr. Hay said it to President Roosevelt. Roosevelt kept Hay on in the post that he was serving under McKinley.

Bill,

I was thinking about reading the new bio of Hay that was just released, but have only read one review of it. It was well-reviewed. Have you seen or read it?

Joe

Hint #2: He is a former editor of the Lincoln Herald.

It gets very confusing when too many threads get interlaced so that it resembles the human genome!

Hopefully this will give it away:

Hint #3: His first name is Wayne.

Wayne Temple? His name has cropped up a lot lately.
