You did a wonderful job to get what you did. It took me 8 days to get through all 350-plus letters in that subject file, and I only saw the second title once or twice in Tarbell's letters.
The second topic was "Abraham Lincoln's Political Principles and Methods."
Good job! We're working on setting up a lecture tour for you as a prize, but some of the states won't meet your demands for all-day access to the Golf Channel, so negotiations continue.

I may need to take a pass, Rob. I get out of breath just looking at Ida Tarbell's lecture schedules. Did she have the energy! I noticed she once spoke in Benton Harbor, Michigan. That was the next town north of where our little cabin was in St. Joe and roughly 25 miles north of Harbert.

You got that right, Roger. She started around the age of 60 and went through to about age 68. I saw one itinerary where she had to leave one town at around 4 in the morning to get to another town to talk later that afternoon. She got $100 per lecture, which is about $2300 in today's money, but she needed every penny because at the time she was trying to help her brother dig himself out of a massive debt. He ended up living with her until his death, because in addition to financial problems, he suffered from some mental health issues, even holding the family at gunpoint on different occasions.

I would be tempted to guess Nicolay's daughter. But, I don't think she had been born yet during Lincoln's time as president.
