RE: Assassination Trivia - J. Beckert - 12-06-2013 02:50 PM No prizes for trivia cheaters. I forfeit. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-25-2013 02:05 PM In the years after the assassination which person stated that it was mainly on his testimony that the principal conspirators were convicted. RE: Assassination Trivia - Rogerm - 12-25-2013 02:19 PM Was it Louis J. Weichmann? RE: Assassination Trivia - Dave Taylor - 12-25-2013 02:20 PM I'll take a random guess. How about John Fletcher? His information on the horses and their owners proved valuable. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-25-2013 02:38 PM Good guesses, Roger and Dave, but neither one is correct. RE: Assassination Trivia - L Verge - 12-25-2013 03:41 PM Richard M. Smoot's brother? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-25-2013 04:36 PM I am sorry, Laurie, but it was not Smoot's brother. RE: Assassination Trivia - Gene C - 12-25-2013 05:58 PM I would have thought Weichmann, how about John Lloyd? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-25-2013 06:07 PM That's another good guess, Gene, but it wasn't John Lloyd. RE: Assassination Trivia - J. Beckert - 12-25-2013 08:21 PM Not taking "testimony" literally, I'll guess Lafayette Baker. RE: Assassination Trivia - Rsmyth - 12-25-2013 10:03 PM William Withers? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-26-2013 05:08 AM Kudos, Rich. You are correct. In later years Withers stated, "It was mainly on my testimony that the principals in the case were convicted." Withers made a series of embellished or untrue statements including maintaining that Tad Lincoln was in the box with his parents that night. Tom Bogar mentions Withers' statement here. "Let me no the truth about this murder of the Chief President....I want to no wat you no about it....My hand is so lame that I can scarcely hold the pen...." RE: Assassination Trivia - Dave Taylor - 01-14-2014 03:47 PM I know, I know! But I'll let others guess. RE: Assassination Trivia - L Verge - 01-14-2014 04:13 PM Sam Arnold's father? |
