Bill and Donna,

Your tribute continues to celebrate Karrie's short but beautiful life. Even in her pain, she brought sunlight and love into the lives of those around her. Our faith teaches us that those who have gone before have not really left us--rather, we are going to them. I hope you both find comfort in that reality.

Joe

Bill,

Your tribute to Karrie is deeply moving, and you and Donna are in both my and Cheryl's thoughts. When my mother died, and I delivered the eulogy, I found a letter that had been written by F. Scott Fitzgerald to a friend who lost two sons. I closed Mom's eulogy with what Fitzgerald wrote.

Who was it said that it was astounding how deepest griefs can change in time to a sort of joy? The golden bowl is broken indeed but it was golden; nothing can ever take those boys away from you now.

Take care.

Best
Rob

Everyone : you have all blessed me further with your comments. So comforting! Yesterday evening we had dinner at Karrie's favorite restaurant. It was selected to honor her. There were no speeches or anything like that. We simply mentioned that Karrie would have loved it. There was a silent peace that we all felt as a family. One cannot ask for more than that. Thank you again everyone for the kindness in the postings.

Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of my daughter Karrie’s passing. It seems like yesterday and also like a long time ago at the same time. So much in my life has changed. I do think of the Lincolns and how hard it must have been to lose family members and, of course, their sons. No small task. As always, my family and I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Bill -

I cannot imagine the loss of a child, but know of the vacuum that the death of a loved one leaves. Time helps, but never completely heals. The best we can do is keep those we loved in our hearts and memories, and I am certain that Karrie lives on in yours.

Bill

My deepest and heartfelt sympathies regarding the loss of your daughter Karrie. You and your family are in my prayers.

John 16:22 “So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”
I always find comfort in this scripture; I hope you do as well.

So sorry for your loss but it’s Heaven’s gain. The way you described your daughter she was full of life. Your family will be in my prayers.

Nothing I can write here would be adequate but James Agee's book 'A Death In The Family' is (in my opinion) immensely honest about one family's loss. I doubt that I've read a more beautiful and sensitive book.

Bill - we nearly lost my wonderful daughter when she was four years old, but they were able to revive her. Then we waited days to make sure that there was no brain damage. This was a horrible experience for me, and you have gone through so much more. Just keep those memories of Karrie deep inside, and she will always be with you.

I'm sorry to hear of your family's loss. I hadn't joined the forum yet when Karrie passed but from reading your posts written then, she sounds like an absolutely wonderful person. The world would be a lot better place if there were more people like her and it looks like she helped make it better in her short time here.

Keep you daughter close in your heart and she will always be near....

Bill, I cannot believe two years have already passed since. While nothing can take away the loss and change I hope for brightness to come back into your life. Your daughter would want that for you, too. And sure she'd rather like to see you thinking back with a smile of what you have had than in tears of what you have lost. And to move on - as Lincoln said when Eddie died, for we must live. She wouldn't like seeing you "die" with her.

PS: Are her cats still with you?

Eva: thank you. “We must live.” This helped me today. I will remember that.
