RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 02-03-2013 08:48 AM Correct, Gene! RE: Extra Credit Questions - LincolnMan - 02-03-2013 03:39 PM (02-02-2013 05:48 PM)RJNorton Wrote: You got it, Gene. Indeed that is Dennis Hanks. He looks like Abe. I wonder if he was trying to look like him? RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 02-03-2013 04:50 PM I think you are right, Bill. I checked Lloyd Ostendorf's book to see if he included a date for that image, but he does not. RE: Extra Credit Questions - LincolnMan - 02-05-2013 05:33 PM What famous comedian of a long-ago era had been described as a "deadpan Abraham Lincoln?" RE: Extra Credit Questions - Rob Wick - 02-05-2013 05:36 PM Buster Keaton? Best Rob RE: Extra Credit Questions - LincolnMan - 02-05-2013 05:43 PM Rob, you're right on the money! Now see if you know this one-although it is not Lincoln related. What famous record album cover was Keaton pictured on? May any of us answer that?!??! --Jim RE: Extra Credit Questions - Rob Wick - 02-05-2013 07:03 PM Won't bother me, Jim. I have no earthly idea. Well, I'll just say that the album has a song by the one-and-only Billy Shears! --Jim RE: Extra Credit Questions - LincolnMan - 02-05-2013 07:16 PM Yes, Jim! As far as I'm concerned-the greatest record of the rock era. I'm surprised with the many persons depicted on the album cover that Lincoln isn't included. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Jim Page - 02-05-2013 07:23 PM Bill, I've wondered about that myself. My understanding is that each band member could choose a few of the folks they considered most important to them. The record company vetoed at least two of their picks, but I guess Lincoln wasn't on these folks' radar. Funny, though, considering they had a Bowery Boy and Tom Mix! Notice that I'm still not providing the answer!!! --Jim RE: Extra Credit Questions - Rob Wick - 02-05-2013 07:26 PM Ah, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I had forgotten about that cover. (Lincoln is looking at a book of Matthew Brady's photos, not reading to Tad, as is usually stated.) And I believe it s the only photograph of Lincoln wearing glasses? RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 02-10-2013 08:48 AM Fill in the blank: When Mary Lincoln was traveling in Europe she wrote a friend: "It does appear to me, that ____________ has spoiled me for seeing any other place in Europe." |
