I had my second session of therapy today. It's pretty rough going. I doubt that I will be able to go to work until at least the end of the month. I'm really bummed about having to put my book aside, but not being able to type easily makes it pretty much impossible. I am working on some non-typing things but that's really just busy work. It's taken me about 15 minutes to type this. Thanks for asking.

Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I wish you the best.

Thank you David. I sincerely appreciate it.

Something for you all to keep busy over the weekend. Who wrote Tarbell the following?

"[B]eware, for in a history of Mr. Lincoln's public career you are liable to stir up the monkeys."

Louis A. Warren?

RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia - Rob Wick - 11-12-2022 07:40 AM

Great guess Roger, but it isn't Warren.

First clue. This person has been mentioned on the site before, but not as much as this person's partner has been.

James Randall ?

RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia - Rob Wick - 11-13-2022 09:20 AM

Sorry Gene, but it's not Randall.

Clue. This person's daughter won a Caldecott Medal for her own writing.

Next clue.

As a young man he traveled to Indianapolis to attend a performance by Edwin Booth.

Albert Beveridge?

RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia - Rob Wick - 11-15-2022 11:05 AM

Very logical Roger, but it isn't Beveridge. Think earlier.

Jesse Weik?

He seems to match most of the clues. Though, I'm not aware of a daughter who won the Caldecott Medal. I do know that Weik's granddaughter, Ann Grifalconi, was the runner-up for the Caldecott in 1987 for her book The Village of Round and Square Houses. It was published just before I started kindergarten.

Rob, I'm sorry to hear about your health troubles and I hope you continue to get better.

Steve,

You got it! It was Weik. As for the Caldecott, I misread my source for this. It came from an article written by Randall T. Shepherd in the Indiana Magazine of History. He did call it an "honor" award and didn't specify whether it was Weik's daughter or granddaughter, both of whom were described as excellent writers in their own right.

Great job. Thanks for the kind words regarding my arm.
