Here is the cover of Mr. Holmes' book: RE: Assassination Trivia - LincolnMan - 05-15-2013 08:51 AM (05-01-2013 09:07 AM)RJNorton Wrote: Kudos, Rich. You got it. So I take it, that like with so many of the eye witness accounts, this must also be taken with a grain of salt. RE: Assassination Trivia - Dave Taylor - 05-15-2013 08:04 PM Whose badge is this? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 05-16-2013 03:57 AM Osborn Hamiline Oldroyd? RE: Assassination Trivia - Dave Taylor - 05-16-2013 05:19 AM Nope. It's not Mr. Oldroyd's. Hint: The owner had served in the Confederacy and surrendered at Appomattox Court House with Lee. RE: Assassination Trivia - J. Beckert - 05-16-2013 06:11 AM Pink Parker's. RE: Assassination Trivia - Dave Taylor - 05-16-2013 06:19 AM (05-16-2013 06:11 AM)J. Beckert Wrote: Pink Parker's. Absolutely correct Joe. I was able to purchase a copy of the booklet regarding Mr. Parker and so I scanned this better image of him and his celebratory badge to put on my blog: http://boothiebarn.com/2012/10/02/the-story-of-pink-parker-and-his-booth-memorial/ What a strange guy. RE: Assassination Trivia - Laurie Verge - 05-16-2013 08:14 AM One thing you can say about Pink Parker: He sure knew how to hold a grudge... RE: Assassination Trivia - Rsmyth - 05-17-2013 07:34 AM The remains at the Lincoln Memorial in Springfield have been dug up and moved numerous times. Who is the only person to have been buried in the tomb, taken out, never to return? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 05-17-2013 08:33 AM Abraham "Jack" Lincoln II, Robert Lincoln's son? RE: Assassination Trivia - Rsmyth - 05-17-2013 11:19 AM You got it Roger. Jack died in Europe after an operatrion. His father, Robert Todd Lincoln, brought him back to have him placed in the tomb in Springfield. He was then removed to be reinterred with his father in Arlington. RE: Assassination Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 05-18-2013 05:02 AM Who wrote about the assassination: "The day of the murder we heard the news very early in the morning. Mother prepared breakfast - and other meals afterward - as usual; but not a mouthful was eaten all day by either of us. We each drank half a cup of coffee, that was all. Little was said. We got every newspaper morning and evening, and the frequent extras of that period, and pass'd them silently to each other." RE: Assassination Trivia - Rogerm - 05-18-2013 07:22 AM Was this written by the sister of one of Tad Lincoln's playmates, whose name escapes me right now? RE: Assassination Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 05-18-2013 07:42 AM You are probably thinking of Julia Taft? Good guess, but it was a male's report. |
