That is a wonderful wish, Kate!!! I remember well holding pillows tightly over my incision after gall bladder surgery many years ago (before it became a buttonhole procedure). Those sneezes were something else.

First day I felt like sitting at my laptop. Hopefully I'll be able to go home Tuesday, but it will depend in how clear the chest tubes are.
On behalf of Cheryl and myself (as well as my brother and two sisters) I want to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and support. This has been an eye-opening experience for me from a number of angles, not the least of which is trying to type with a pulse-ox thingy on my finger. I received the second chance that my father never got when his heart attack took his life at 39. I will make use of every moment I have and (don't worry Craig) will get some books done. The doctor did an absolutely wonderful job and is very pleased with the outcome. Weird seeing the scar down my chest, but I'll get used to it soon enough.
As soon as I get home and get this stuff off my fingers, I'll give a more detailed update.
Note: The nurse just took the pulse-ox off, so now I'm doing somewhat better.

Home is where the heart it, and it's also where mine is now. We got home about 15 minutes ago. My brother and sisters brought over a lift chair that will go a LONG way in helping me get better. My brother-in-law used it after his bypass surgery. I think they got it for his dad when he was ill. It's definitely made the rounds.
Again, I'm so grateful for everyone's thoughts and their concern for my well-being. It's humbles me (and there's a number of people out there who can tell you just how difficult an accomplishment that is).

I know someone who had quadruple, or maybe quintuple bypass surgery when he was 55. He is now almost 83 and still going strong.
I had a life-changing health experience too. I thought of it as a catastrophe at the time, but now I think it was a blessing in disguise.
I'm glad you're back home and I hope you'll be back to your favorite activities soon.
