RE: It's surgery - My Name Is Kate - 04-20-2013 11:33 AM Great news. May you never have to sneeze until you're all healed up! RE: It's surgery - L Verge - 04-20-2013 07:15 PM That is a wonderful wish, Kate!!! I remember well holding pillows tightly over my incision after gall bladder surgery many years ago (before it became a buttonhole procedure). Those sneezes were something else. Hope today finds you even better, Rob. RE: It's surgery - Rob Wick - 04-22-2013 11:13 AM First day I felt like sitting at my laptop. Hopefully I'll be able to go home Tuesday, but it will depend in how clear the chest tubes are. On behalf of Cheryl and myself (as well as my brother and two sisters) I want to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and support. This has been an eye-opening experience for me from a number of angles, not the least of which is trying to type with a pulse-ox thingy on my finger. I received the second chance that my father never got when his heart attack took his life at 39. I will make use of every moment I have and (don't worry Craig) will get some books done. The doctor did an absolutely wonderful job and is very pleased with the outcome. Weird seeing the scar down my chest, but I'll get used to it soon enough. As soon as I get home and get this stuff off my fingers, I'll give a more detailed update. Note: The nurse just took the pulse-ox off, so now I'm doing somewhat better. Best Rob RE: It's surgery - L Verge - 04-22-2013 12:16 PM Wonderful news, Rob. Make every minute count. RE: It's surgery - RJNorton - 04-22-2013 12:43 PM Great news, Rob! RE: It's surgery - Joe Di Cola - 04-22-2013 12:53 PM I am sooo glad you could let us k ow of your progress; it is GREAT news!! Continue to behave yourself and take on things only as the doctors allow for now. Thanks for the update. RE: It's surgery - Gene C - 04-22-2013 01:15 PM Answered prayers RE: It's surgery - LincolnMan - 04-22-2013 01:18 PM Continue to get well Rob RE: It's surgery - Linda Anderson - 04-22-2013 03:36 PM It's great to see you back on the forum so soon, Rob. RE: It's surgery - BettyO - 04-22-2013 05:18 PM Welcome back, Rob! Take care - RE: It's surgery - Jim Page - 04-22-2013 05:39 PM Well, this is great news! Welcome back, Rob! --Jim RE: It's surgery - Rob Wick - 04-23-2013 05:17 PM Home is where the heart it, and it's also where mine is now. We got home about 15 minutes ago. My brother and sisters brought over a lift chair that will go a LONG way in helping me get better. My brother-in-law used it after his bypass surgery. I think they got it for his dad when he was ill. It's definitely made the rounds. Again, I'm so grateful for everyone's thoughts and their concern for my well-being. It's humbles me (and there's a number of people out there who can tell you just how difficult an accomplishment that is). Best Rob RE: It's surgery - My Name Is Kate - 04-23-2013 05:38 PM I know someone who had quadruple, or maybe quintuple bypass surgery when he was 55. He is now almost 83 and still going strong. I had a life-changing health experience too. I thought of it as a catastrophe at the time, but now I think it was a blessing in disguise. I'm glad you're back home and I hope you'll be back to your favorite activities soon. RE: It's surgery - Liz Rosenthal - 04-23-2013 08:12 PM I would like to join everyone in welcoming you back, Rob. I'm happy for you that you've begun convalescence and look forward to your always interesting, substantive posts. RE: It's surgery - J. Beckert - 04-23-2013 08:40 PM Best wishes for a full recovery, Rob. Rest up. |
